"a new way for the future"

Missouri may be fifth on the list of average number of big tornadoes per year (2.2), but the town of Joplin was struck by one of the deadliest tornadoes in U.S. history. On May 22, 2011, the Joplin Tornado — with winds that exceeded 200 mph - killed 158 people and injured more than 1,000. It was the first single tornado in the U.S. to kill more than 100 people in 57 years.

The Tri-State Tornado of March 18, 1925 was the deadliest single tornado in U.S. history, killing 689 people in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. The tornado caused devastating damage over three-and-a-half hours while traveling along its 219-mile long track. This tornado also was the third-fastest tornado on record, traveling at nearly 60 miles per hour.

Good Morning World!

Thank you for visiting my website. Those two words, "Tornado Proof" could have also reflected upon the two words, "Hurricane Proof." Both of these natural disasters have been around for centuries. The property they destroy and the lives lost, have been devastating to many. You surely can't prevent the natural disasters from happening, but you can prevent lives from being taken from us. There has to be a change for this to happen. It's all about saving lives.

Hi! My name is Thomas McCoy. I reside in the city of Olathe, Kansas. A suburb located approximately thirty miles southwest of Kansas City. Yes, this area is located in what is known as "tornado alley." I have been away from the trade about 8 years now. Since I am reaching the retirement age, after 31 years of framing houses, the knowledge, the creativity and good ole common sense of the trade will never leave me. Since I do miss the job site, it is now time to put those three traits to use in saving lives. I honestly do believe in my "Tornado Proof Home."

The methods I have come up with, is taking a normal framed home (during the construction period) and added materials to make this project tornado proof. The best thing about this project, the home will still pass building codes. All I have done, is strengthen what is already there. You will be amazed what I have done to a home. It's never been done before to the extreme I have taken it. I actually amazed myself.

The purpose of this website is to educate everyone that, there is a way you can feel safe during a natural disaster. there is a way to not have you or your family perish. There is a way to have your possessions, not taken away from you. Especially photo's that can not be replaced. The purpose of this website is to give, not only our generations, but future generations a "Peace of Mind." Knowing they can be safe during one of these two natural disasters. This could be a whole new way for future home building.

Existing Homeowners:

For my viewers who already own a home, there are processes for you. With already having a roof on your home, and already having sheetrock in your living area, my "Attic Processes" are for you. There are also processes in the "The Ceiling Joist" section, pertaining to the "stiff backs" construction. The attic is the most important area of the home,in keeping the roof intact.

Any of my viewers planning on remodeling your home. This would be the opportunity to make more add-ons, by the way of my processes. Whatever the process may be, always refer back to "Tornado Proof" website, for that extra strength needed.

It doesn't have to be this way!
